Welcome in the family of the National Association of Federal Retirees’s Québec Branch!
Last September 17, I was honoured to be elected President of the Quebec Branch!
The Quebec Branch has approximately 6,700 members, residing in the greater Québec-Lévis, the Chaudière-Appalaches region and then as far East as Iles-de-la-Madeleine and from Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean and East on the North Shore to Blanc-Sablon.
We pride ourselves in maintaining a strong voice from the territory on issues that are of concern to us more particularly, such as preserving our benefits and promoting better policies in terms of retirement income security, a better framework for veterans, and Medicare, a universal Public Prescription Drug Insurance Plan.
We rely on the generosity of our volunteers, our Board of Directors, our committees, our sub-branches of Bas-St-Laurent-Gaspésie and Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, in our social and cultural activities. They are the backbone of the Quebec Branch and a model of commitments to our members. Our volunteers deserve our admiration, pride and recognition. Thank you, volunteers!
Life has many surprises in store for us! COVID-19 has invaded our lives, both outside and at home, as well as those of our families and friends. This situation has left us all with a great deal of unknown. We hope you have been able to stay in touch with loved ones, keep fit and take care of your mental health. Despite these exceptional, unexpected, unforeseeable and historic circumstances, our Board of Directors has remained focused on its mission. In this particular context of confinement forced upon us by the pandemic, we had to cancel several social activities one by one for this year. On the other hand, by innovating, the Quebec Branch offered members virtual meetings on ZOOM. And what audacity… a conference on "Taking advantage of the situation in times of insecurity", a violin concert by Madame Caroline Béchard of the Quebec Orchestra and training for all members on the use of the Zoom platform. We will continue to research with the COVIDEXIT committee other ways to offer virtual activities of benefit to all. Enjoy!
We offer several national and local services, discounts and advantages through preferred partnerships and co-operations in several areas.
Do not hesitate to share the values of our association with your friends working for the federal government. It is not necessary to be retired to join our Association. You can become a member now.
